MAC-07C – Three Phalangites with White Shields rounds out this group with another trio for the white-shield Macedonian formation.
By the time Alexander died in 323 BC, Macedonian armies had carried the sarissa from Greece through the Persian Empire and deep into Asia. After his death, the phalanx remained central to the armies of the Hellenistic successor kingdoms.
Its influence therefore extended far beyond Alexander himself.
MAC-07C can represent another part of that long Macedonian military tradition. Combined with the earlier white-shield releases, the three figures help build a deep pike block whose visual impact comes from the repetition of shields and the extraordinary reach of the sarissas.
For collectors with sufficient display space, placing multiple ranks behind one another creates a far more convincing result than simply extending the formation sideways.
