MAC-24 – Thessalian Cavalry | John Jenkins Designs
The Thessalian Cavalry were an essential part of the military forces that accompanied Alexander the Great during his conquest of the Persian Empire.
These horsemen were recruited from the region of Thessaly, whose aristocratic families maintained a strong tradition of cavalry warfare.
Their military reputation was enhanced by their use of sophisticated formations and their ability to respond quickly to changing battlefield conditions.
The Thessalians became particularly associated with the rhomboid formation, which allowed a squadron to alter its direction without losing cohesion.
Under the command of Parmenio, they performed the important duty of protecting the Macedonian army's left wing.
Their distinctive national cloaks, known for their flowing points, were among the identifying features of these celebrated horsemen.
MAC-24 – Thessalian Cavalry by John Jenkins Designs portrays a mounted member of the Thessalian cavalry.
This figure forms part of the manufacturer's Armies and Enemies of Ancient Greece and Macedonia collection, complementing the other Thessalian horsemen and Macedonian cavalry commanders.
Ideal for recreating the mounted formations that participated in Alexander's great campaigns against the Achaemenid Persian Empire.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
