MAD-05 – Beja Warriors, Casualties #3 (4 pcs) | John Jenkins Designs

The campaigns fought in the eastern Sudan during the 1880s brought British and Egyptian forces into conflict with determined Beja warriors who supported the Mahdist cause, particularly in the Red Sea region.

MAD-05 – Beja Warriors, Casualties #3 presents a four-figure casualty grouping representing the human cost of these fierce engagements. The Beja earned a formidable reputation among their opponents for their courage, mobility and willingness to close rapidly with enemy formations.

Battles such as El Teb and Tamai in 1884 demonstrated just how dangerous the fighting could become. At Tamai, Mahdist forces succeeded in breaking into part of the British formation before being driven back during intense close-quarter combat.

With four casualties included, this version of MAD-05 can add considerable realism to a substantial Sudan battlefield. Rather than grouping all four together, spreading them naturally among advancing warriors and opposing troops can give the impression of a battle developing across a much wider area.

Available from The Military Workshop – a dramatic John Jenkins Designs four-piece casualty set for adding greater realism to a Sudan campaign display.
