MBHL-08 - Two British Marines | John Jenkins Designs
This two-figure set depicts British Marines during the Battle of Bunker Hill on 17 June 1775, representing the forces involved in the assault against the American defensive positions on Breed's Hill.
The British Marines served as part of the Royal Navy's military establishment and were trained for operations both aboard ships and ashore.
Marine detachments in Boston were organised into battalions to participate in the British campaign against the colonial rebellion.
At Breed's Hill, the Marines formed an important element of the attacking force, advancing alongside regular British infantry against the American earthworks.
The defenders, commanded by Colonel William Prescott, successfully repulsed two major attacks before eventually withdrawing during the third assault after their ammunition supplies became exhausted.
The engagement became a significant early battle of the American War of Independence and resulted in substantial British casualties.
MBHL-08 provides two additional Marines for collectors expanding their British infantry formations.
The figures can be displayed alongside the larger MBHL-08N set, other British Marine infantry and supporting command figures to recreate the assault on Breed's Hill.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
