MBHL-19N - Four British Marine Light Infantry | John Jenkins Designs
This four-figure set represents British Marine Light Infantry during the assault on Breed's Hill at the Battle of Bunker Hill on 17 June 1775.
The set contains four figures in two different poses, with two standing and ramming charges into their muskets and two kneeling and firing.
These complementary poses provide collectors with an opportunity to recreate the loading and firing sequence associated with eighteenth-century musket warfare.
During the American War of Independence, British Marines served aboard Royal Navy vessels and participated in military operations ashore.
Marine detachments stationed in Boston were organised into battalions, with grenadier and light infantry companies contributing to the British attacking forces at Breed's Hill.
The battle involved repeated British assaults against the colonial earthwork fortifications, with the defending Americans inflicting substantial casualties during the first two attacks.
The British eventually captured the position during a third assault when the American defenders had largely exhausted their ammunition.
MBHL-19N is particularly suitable for recreating an active Marine firing line, with the standing and kneeling poses providing a varied arrangement of soldiers.
This set complements MBHL-20N, MBHL-21N and other British Marine infantry figures, allowing collectors to create an extensive representation of the fighting at Bunker Hill.
