MBHL-23 - British Marine Drummer | John Jenkins Designs

This individual figure represents a drummer serving with the British Marines during the Battle of Bunker Hill on 17 June 1775.

The British Marines played an important role in the assault on the American defensive positions at Breed's Hill, operating alongside regular British infantry during the fighting.

At this time, the Marines were organised into companies whose personnel could be assigned to ships or assembled for operations ashore. They were trained to undertake military duties aboard Royal Navy vessels as well as amphibious and land operations.

During the fighting at Breed's Hill, Marine units formed part of the British forces attacking the American fortifications. Their participation was particularly important during the final assault, when British troops successfully entered the redoubt after the colonial defenders began running short of ammunition.

Military drummers performed an important role in eighteenth-century formations, helping communicate commands, regulate marching movements and maintain unit organisation.

MBHL-23 provides a supporting figure for collectors assembling a British Marine formation at Bunker Hill. It complements the Marine officers, standard bearers, grenadiers and light infantry figures within the collection.

This figure is particularly suitable for a regimental command display or a larger scene depicting the British forces preparing to assault the American defences.
