NAP069 – Reload #3

Bring your Napoleonic battlefield to life with NAP069 – Reload #3, a beautifully hand-painted two-figure set from Thomas Gunn Miniatures depicting a Private and Corporal of the 28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot in the crucial stage of reloading their Brown Bess muskets. Available from The Military Workshop, this set captures the precision and discipline that made British infantry among the finest soldiers of the Napoleonic Wars.

During battle, every British infantryman was drilled to carry out the musket loading sequence with speed and accuracy. After biting open a paper cartridge and pouring the powder into the barrel, the paper cartridge containing the musket ball was inserted into the muzzle. The soldier then drew his ramrod and firmly forced the ball and paper wadding down onto the powder charge before returning the ramrod to its place beneath the barrel. Only then was the musket primed and ready to fire again. A well-trained British soldier could complete this entire process in around twenty seconds, allowing a steady stream of disciplined volleys that often proved decisive on the battlefield.

The 28th Regiment of Foot earned an enduring reputation for courage and professionalism throughout the Napoleonic Wars. Best remembered for its legendary "Back-to-Back" defence at the Battle of Alexandria in 1801, the regiment later fought with distinction during the Peninsular Campaign and at the Battle of Waterloo. Their unwavering discipline under fire became a hallmark of the British Army and helped secure many of Wellington's greatest victories.

Expertly sculpted and richly hand-painted, NAP069 – Reload #3 depicts both a Private and a Corporal using their ramrods during this essential part of the loading drill. Their authentic uniforms, equipment, and realistic poses make this set an outstanding addition to an infantry square, firing line, or Waterloo display, adding both movement and historical accuracy to any Napoleonic collection.
