NAP074A – Dead Rifleman, Private | Thomas Gunn

Waterloo was a victory, but it was an extraordinarily costly one.

NAP074A – Dead Rifleman, Private is an all-new Thomas Gunn sculpt representing one of the soldiers who did not survive the battle. Thomas Gunn notes that many of those killed at Waterloo were ultimately buried on or around the battlefield where they fell.

A casualty figure has an important role within a large battlefield display. Perfect ranks of untouched soldiers can look impressive, but they do little to communicate the violence and confusion of an actual engagement.

Place NAP074A near the perimeter of the British square, behind the standing defenders or among other casualties and abandoned equipment. Used carefully, the figure adds realism without overwhelming the rest of the scene.

For a Waterloo collection, it is also a reminder that the famous formations and tactical movements seen on maps were composed of individual men facing an exceptionally dangerous battlefield.

Available through The Military Workshop – a poignant Thomas Gunn casualty figure adding another level of realism to a Waterloo display.
