NFYORK-09 – Yorkist Billman represents one of those close-combat infantrymen.
During the Wars of the Roses, bills were widely used by English foot soldiers. Their reach and hooked blades made them effective weapons in the confused fighting that characterised battles such as Towton, Barnet, Tewkesbury and Bosworth.
For a Yorkist display, the billman provides an important contrast to the longbowmen. Position him among other billmen with knights and men-at-arms nearby and the army begins to reflect the mixture of troop types fielded during the period.
