NKE-02 – Egyptian War Chariot | John Jenkins Designs
Speeding across the battlefield with a driver and warrior aboard, the Egyptian war chariot became one of the defining military images of the New Kingdom.
NKE-02 – Egyptian War Chariot brings this spectacular element of Bronze Age warfare to the John Jenkins Designs Battle of Kadesh collection.
Egyptian chariots were light, fast vehicles generally drawn by two horses. Their crews could use the chariot's mobility to manoeuvre across suitable ground while engaging the enemy with bows and other weapons.
At Kadesh, chariots played a particularly prominent role. The Hittite attack against the Egyptian camp created a crisis for Ramesses' army, while Egyptian chariotry also featured heavily in the pharaoh's own accounts of the battle.
The horses, vehicle and crew make NKE-02 an immediate focal point and provide a dramatic contrast to the massed ranks of infantry and archers.
Available from The Military Workshop – an impressive John Jenkins Designs war chariot capturing the speed and spectacle of New Kingdom Egyptian warfare.
