NKE-04 – Egyptian War Chariot | John Jenkins Designs
The Egyptian war chariot became one of the most recognisable symbols of military power during the New Kingdom period (approximately 1550–1070 BC).
These fast-moving, lightweight vehicles transformed battlefield tactics, allowing Egyptian forces to manoeuvre rapidly and attack enemy formations with greater mobility.
War chariots were primarily used as mobile archery platforms, although they could also be employed during attacks and the pursuit of retreating enemy troops.
Their importance was demonstrated during the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC, when Ramesses II confronted the powerful Hittite army commanded by Muwatalli II.
The battle, fought near the Orontes River, is regarded as one of the largest chariot engagements of the ancient world, with estimates of 5,000 to 6,000 chariots participating across the opposing armies.
NKE-04 – Egyptian War Chariot by John Jenkins Designs depicts a two-horse Egyptian chariot with two crewmen.
One soldier controls the chariot, while the second stands ready for combat with his axe raised above his head and shield facing towards his left.
The detailed composition captures the movement and intensity of an Egyptian war chariot entering battle.
Part of the New Kingdom Egyptians – Battle of Kadesh collection, this impressive miniature is an excellent centrepiece for a display of Ancient Egyptian military forces.
