NKE-10 – Egyptian Archers | John Jenkins Designs
The Egyptian archers were among the most important troops serving in the armies of the Pharaohs during the New Kingdom period.
Egyptian military tactics made extensive use of massed archery, with soldiers equipped with the more advanced composite bow.
Archers were generally deployed in formations capable of delivering concentrated volleys against approaching enemy troops, weakening their ranks before the advance of Egyptian close-combat infantry.
According to the historical background provided by John Jenkins Designs, this combination of archery and infantry assault formed an important part of Egyptian battlefield tactics.
NKE-10 – Egyptian Archers by John Jenkins Designs features three standing Egyptian archers, depicted at different stages of the firing sequence.
One archer has just released his arrow, another reaches for a fresh arrow, while the third prepares to loose his bow.
The differing poses make this set particularly effective when combined with other Egyptian archers to create a larger formation.
Part of the New Kingdom Egyptians – Battle of Kadesh, 1274 BC collection, these figures are an excellent addition to an Ancient Egyptian battlefield display.
