NKE-11A – Egyptian Infantry | John Jenkins Designs

The armies of Ancient Egypt reached a peak of military development during the New Kingdom, when Egyptian forces conducted major campaigns throughout the eastern Mediterranean region.

The Pharaoh's infantry were divided into formations with different battlefield responsibilities.

Archers equipped with composite bows provided supporting fire, while the close-combat infantry advanced with spears, swords and axes to engage enemy formations.

The close-combat soldiers, known as Nakhtu-aa, were essential to Egyptian infantry tactics, advancing after the archers had weakened the opposing forces.

The distinctive khopesh sword, with its curved bronze blade, became one of the most recognisable weapons associated with Egyptian soldiers.

NKE-11A – Egyptian Infantry by John Jenkins Designs features three Egyptian warriors armed with khopesh swords and spears, carrying distinctive white-and-brown cowhide shields.

The set represents Egyptian infantry during the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC, when the army of Ramesses II confronted the forces of the Hittite Empire.

These figures complement the Egyptian archers, chariot runners and war chariots in the New Kingdom Egyptians collection.
