NKE-12A – Chariot Runners | John Jenkins Designs
The Egyptian war chariot became an important military development during the New Kingdom, providing a fast and mobile platform for archers and allowing Egyptian forces to manoeuvre rapidly during battle.
The chariot reached particular prominence during the reign of Ramesses II, whose armies confronted the powerful Hittite Empire at the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC.
Alongside the chariots operated infantry equipped with spears, javelins and shields, forming part of the larger Egyptian military force.
NKE-12A – Chariot Runners by John Jenkins Designs depicts three Egyptian soldiers running forward, each armed with a javelin and a white-and-brown cowhide shield.
The figures are designed to capture the movement of infantrymen advancing in association with Egyptian war chariots.
The distinctive cowhide shields provide an attractive alternative to the blue-shielded version, NKE-12B, allowing collectors to introduce additional visual variety into their formations.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs New Kingdom Egyptians collection, this set complements the Egyptian chariots, infantry and archers representing the Battle of Kadesh.
