NKE-18N – Nubian Mercenaries | John Jenkins Designs

For centuries, Nubian warriors formed an important part of the military forces serving the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt.

Their particular expertise in archery and skirmishing made them valuable soldiers, especially when supporting larger Egyptian infantry formations.

The Medja, one of the peoples associated with Nubia, became particularly well known for their skill as scouts and light infantrymen.

John Jenkins Designs describes these warriors as wearing distinctive animal-skin kilts, sometimes accompanied by ostrich-feather decorations.

Nubian archers could deliver missile fire against opposing formations before the Egyptian close-combat infantry advanced with spears and khopesh swords.

NKE-18N – Nubian Mercenaries by John Jenkins Designs contains three Nubian archers reaching for arrows, preparing to continue firing upon the enemy.

The figures capture a moment in the archery sequence, making them especially suitable for combining with other Nubian archers in different poses.

Part of the New Kingdom Egyptians – Battle of Kadesh collection, this set adds depth to an Egyptian missile infantry formation.

The figures are also suitable for displays representing the Ethiopian army of King Memnon in the John Jenkins Designs Trojan War collection.
