NKE-23 – Libyan Mercenary | John Jenkins Designs
During the New Kingdom period, Egypt's military forces included numerous soldiers recruited from foreign peoples, including the Libyan tribes living to the west of the Nile Valley.
The Libyans were originally composed of groups including the Tehenu and Temehu, later joined by the Kehek and Meshwesh.
Their relationship with Egypt involved both military conflict and service within the Egyptian army. During the reigns of Merenptah and Ramesses III, captured Libyan warriors were sometimes incorporated into Egyptian auxiliary formations.
Libyan warriors were distinguished by their animal-hide clothing, ostrich-feather ornaments and long slashing swords.
NKE-23 – Libyan Mercenary by John Jenkins Designs portrays a Libyan infantryman advancing aggressively, with his sword raised and ready to deliver a downward strike from his right side.
The figure's dramatic fighting stance makes it particularly suitable for recreating close-quarter infantry combat.
Designed for the John Jenkins Designs New Kingdom Egyptians collection, this warrior adds further variety to the Libyan mercenary formations.
