NKE-24 – Libyan Mercenary | John Jenkins Designs
Throughout the history of Ancient Egypt, foreign troops formed an important part of the Pharaoh's armies, with mercenaries recruited from neighbouring regions.
Among these were warriors from Libya, whose peoples included the Tehenu, Temehu, Kehek and Meshwesh.
During the later New Kingdom, Egypt faced repeated incursions from Libyan groups and the Sea Peoples. The reigns of Merenptah and Ramesses III were particularly associated with these conflicts.
Libyan warriors were recognisable by their distinctive clothing, including animal-hide cloaks and dyed ostrich feathers worn in their hair. Their weapons included bows and long slashing swords, some acquired through contact with the Sea Peoples.
NKE-24 – Libyan Mercenary by John Jenkins Designs depicts a Libyan warrior advancing with his sword extended forward at approximately eye level, ready to confront an opponent.
Part of the New Kingdom Egyptians – Battle of Kadesh collection, this figure complements the other Libyan mercenaries and Egyptian troops in the range.
