NKE-30 – Pharaoh's Guard | John Jenkins Designs

The Sherden were among the foreign warriors recruited into the Egyptian army during the reign of Ramesses II.

Originally associated with the Sea Peoples, they became valued soldiers following their defeat during an attempted raid on the Egyptian coast. Their subsequent service included duties as members of the Pharaoh's personal bodyguard.

Sherden warriors wore distinctive bronze helmets with projecting horns and a raised central disc, together with leather armour reinforced with metal studs.

They carried long bronze swords and round wooden shields, decorated with bronze studs and protective metal rims.

NKE-30 – Pharaoh's Guard by John Jenkins Designs portrays two Sherden warriors in close-combat positions.

One warrior raises his sword ready to strike, while his companion prepares to thrust his sword forward. Both carry their distinctive round shields.

This two-figure set represents the bodyguards associated with Ramesses II and the Battle of Kadesh, 1274 BC, and can be displayed alongside other figures from the New Kingdom Egyptians range.
