NKE-30N – Pharaoh's Guard | John Jenkins Designs
The military strength of New Kingdom Egypt was supported by troops recruited from across the territories surrounding the Egyptian Empire.
Among these foreign soldiers were the Sherden, warriors who became associated with the Pharaoh's personal protection during the reign of Ramesses II.
The Sherden were recognisable by their unusual horned helmets, bronze swords and round shields. Their leather armour, reinforced with metal studs, offered protection while allowing freedom of movement in close combat.
Their service within the Egyptian military is particularly associated with the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC, when Ramesses II led his army against the forces of the Hittite king Muwatalli II.
NKE-30N – Pharaoh's Guard by John Jenkins Designs features four Sherden bodyguards, with two warriors raising their swords and two preparing to thrust their weapons forward.
The contrasting positions of the figures create the appearance of a coordinated close-combat formation.
Part of the John Jenkins Designs New Kingdom Egyptians collection, this set complements the other Sherden bodyguards and Egyptian war chariots.
