NKE-31N – Pharaoh's Guard | John Jenkins Designs
The Sherden warriors became an important element within the armies of Ramesses II, whose reign marked one of the most celebrated periods of Ancient Egyptian history.
Originally associated with seafaring raids upon Egypt, these warriors entered Egyptian service following their defeat by the Pharaoh. Their reputation as experienced fighters eventually earned them a position within his personal guard.
At the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC, Ramesses II confronted the forces of the Hittite Empire in one of antiquity's best-known military engagements. The Sherden are identified in the Pharaoh's inscriptions as members of his bodyguard.
Their distinctive military equipment included horned bronze helmets, studded leather armour, bronze swords and round shields reinforced with metal fittings.
NKE-31N – Pharaoh's Guard by John Jenkins Designs depicts four advancing Sherden warriors. Two carry their swords pointed upwards, while the remaining two advance with their swords directed forwards and downwards.
This four-figure set is particularly suitable for forming a protective guard around Ramesses II or creating an advancing formation within an Egyptian battlefield display.
