NM-02 – Norman Knight | John Jenkins Designs
The year 1066 changed the course of English history. When William, Duke of Normandy, crossed the Channel to claim the English throne, mounted Norman warriors formed one of the most important components of his invading army.
NM-02 – Norman Knight represents one of these heavily armed mounted warriors from the age of the Norman Conquest.
Norman knights typically fought with spear or lance, sword and the distinctive elongated shield often associated with the 11th century. Mail provided substantial protection while still allowing the mobility necessary for mounted combat.
At the Battle of Hastings on 14 October 1066, Norman cavalry operated alongside infantry and archers against Harold Godwinson's Anglo-Saxon army positioned on Senlac Hill.
NM-02 is an excellent foundation for a mounted Norman force and can be displayed advancing towards a Saxon shield wall or accompanying William's commanders.
