NM-17 – Eustace II, Count of Boulogne | John Jenkins Designs

Among the notable nobles who accompanied William's invasion of England was Eustace II, Count of Boulogne, an important continental lord with connections to both sides of the English Channel.

Eustace participated in the Battle of Hastings and is traditionally identified as one of the figures depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry close to Duke William during a critical stage of the battle.

One famous scene shows a figure calling attention to William after rumours spread that the duke had been killed. The identification and precise interpretation of individual figures in the tapestry remain subjects of scholarly discussion, but Eustace's presence in William's army is well established.

NM-17 gives collectors a named historical personality to place among the mass of Norman knights and infantry, providing an excellent companion to other command figures.

Available through The Military Workshop – a fascinating John Jenkins Designs representation of Eustace II, one of the leading nobles who accompanied William to England in 1066.
