NM-25A – Norman Swordsman
Although the spear was widespread among medieval infantry, the sword remained one of the most prestigious and formidable weapons of the period. In close combat it required strength, skill and courage, particularly during the chaotic fighting that followed the collision of opposing battle lines.
NM-25A – Norman Swordsman depicts a Norman warrior prepared for close-quarter combat during the campaigns of 1066. Armed with sword and protected by his shield, he provides an excellent contrast to the numerous spear-armed infantrymen within William’s army.
His fighting pose makes him particularly effective near the front of a Norman assault or alongside other swordsmen and spearmen as they attempt to break through the Anglo-Saxon defences.
Available from The Military Workshop – a striking John Jenkins figure for any Norman, Age of Arthur or Battle of Hastings 1066 collection.
