NM-29A – Norman Swordsman

The Norman army that crossed the English Channel in 1066 was made up of men drawn from Normandy and neighbouring regions, brought together under William’s command for one of the most ambitious military expeditions of the medieval period.

NM-29A – Norman Swordsman portrays one of these warriors armed with sword and shield. While the spear was the more common infantry weapon, the sword was highly valued and particularly effective once opposing warriors became locked in close-quarter combat.

The figure’s active pose makes him an excellent choice for the heart of a battle scene, perhaps fighting alongside Norman spearmen as they attempt to force their way through the Anglo-Saxon defences.

For collectors building the armies of 1066, NM-29A is a striking John Jenkins figure available from The Military Workshop, perfect for adding action and variety to a Norman formation.
