NM-35A – Norman Archer
An arrow might be relatively small compared with the weapons carried by knights and infantry, but massed archery could have a significant effect on a medieval battlefield. At Hastings, Norman bowmen were an important part of William’s attempts to weaken the Saxon position.
NM-35A – Norman Archer portrays one of these fighting men preparing to contribute to the barrage against Harold’s army. His lighter equipment contrasts beautifully with the chainmail, shields and heavier weapons carried by Norman infantry and knights.
Mixing archers throughout a larger display also helps show the different troop types William brought with him during his campaign for the English crown.
Now available from The Military Workshop – a characterful addition to the extensive John Jenkins Norman range.
