NM-54 – Breton Cavalry
One of the most dramatic episodes at Hastings involved the Breton forces on William’s left wing. At one stage they were driven back, and some Anglo-Saxon warriors left the security of their shield wall to pursue them. The Normans and their allies were then able to turn upon their pursuers – an episode often connected with the later use of feigned retreats.
NM-54 – Breton Cavalry represents one of the mounted warriors involved in this turbulent part of the battle. The horse and rider introduce considerable movement to a display and contrast beautifully with the tightly packed infantry formations.
It is an especially effective piece for collectors recreating the more dynamic stages of the fighting rather than a static battle line.
Bring the mounted warriors of 1066 into your collection with NM-54, available from The Military Workshop.
