The eight Principes of PMRR-05YN provide the numbers needed to create a substantial second line in a Republican Roman army.

During the Middle Republic, Roman heavy infantry was traditionally divided into successive lines, allowing commanders to commit troops in stages. The Principes stood behind the Hastati and represented a more experienced body of men ready to continue the engagement.

This larger set allows that battlefield depth to be shown properly. The figures can be arranged in several ranks, with standards and officers integrated naturally among them.

The yellow shields also coordinate with the wider range of similarly coloured Roman infantry, cavalry and accessories.
