POW-02 – Powhatan Warrior | John Jenkins Designs

The Powhatan peoples occupied a broad region of the Chesapeake and Tidewater Virginia at the beginning of English colonisation.

POW-02 – Powhatan Warrior represents one of the men belonging to this complex network of communities encountered by the English settlers at Jamestown.

Relations between the Powhatan and the English shifted repeatedly between trade, negotiation, uneasy coexistence and violent conflict as the colonial population expanded.

A warrior figure such as POW-02 is therefore useful for depicting a wide range of early-17th-century scenes, from defensive preparations and village life to the conflicts that developed around the growing English settlements.

Combined with Opechancanough and additional Powhatan figures, he helps build a much broader representation of the Indigenous world of early Virginia.

Available from The Military Workshop – a distinctive John Jenkins Designs Powhatan warrior for collectors exploring the early colonial history of North America.
