QBLG-05 – Louisbourg Grenadier, 22nd Regiment of Foot, Grenadiers | John Jenkins Designs
The Siege of Louisbourg in 1758 formed an important part of Britain’s wider campaign against French power in North America during the French and Indian War.
QBLG-05 – Louisbourg Grenadier represents a grenadier of the 22nd Regiment of Foot, one of the British regiments associated with the campaign.
Grenadiers occupied a distinctive position within the 18th-century infantry. Originally selected for specialised duties, by this period they were generally regarded as elite company soldiers and were often used in demanding assaults and other difficult operations.
The capture of Louisbourg opened the way for further British operations along the St Lawrence and contributed to the campaign that culminated in the attack on Quebec the following year.
QBLG-05 can therefore stand equally well as an individual Grenadier figure or as part of a larger Louisbourg force accompanied by drummers, fifers and other British regulars.
Available through The Military Workshop – a characterful John Jenkins Designs grenadier representing the 22nd Regiment of Foot during Britain’s struggle for New France.
