ROM200D – The Water Carrier (No Shield, Green Tunic) | Thomas Gunn

The D version of the Water Carrier has a noticeably different character from the three shield-bearing releases.

ROM200D carries no shield and wears a green tunic, giving him the appearance of a soldier concentrating upon camp duties rather than standing ready for immediate combat.

That makes this version especially useful around the quieter areas of an encampment. Position him near a tent, water point, cooking scene or other soldiers carrying out everyday tasks and his lack of shield looks entirely natural.

The green tunic also provides welcome visual variety. A Roman camp would not necessarily present the perfectly uniform appearance sometimes suggested by massed miniature formations, particularly when soldiers were away from formal parade or battle.

Mixed with ROM200A, B and C, this figure allows collectors to build a busy camp scene with considerably more individuality.
