ROMCAV-06B – Roman Auxiliary Cavalry, Green Shield | John Jenkins Designs
The Roman Empire depended upon its auxiliary forces to provide military capabilities beyond those of the heavily armed legions.
Among the most important of these troops were the mounted cavalrymen, who could cover large distances, gather intelligence and respond quickly to threats.
Roman auxiliary cavalry were often recruited from peoples with established traditions of horsemanship. Their duties included scouting, patrolling, protecting the flanks of Roman armies and pursuing enemy forces after battle.
Their equipment commonly included mail armour, the spatha long sword, spears and javelins. They also carried lightweight shields that provided protection without unnecessarily restricting movement on horseback.
ROMCAV-06B – Roman Auxiliary Cavalry by John Jenkins Designs depicts a mounted auxiliary cavalryman carrying a green shield.
The figure represents the versatile mounted soldiers who supported the Roman legions during campaigns and frontier operations.
Part of the Armies and Enemies of Ancient Rome collection, this figure is an excellent addition to Roman cavalry formations and historical military dioramas.
