ROMCAV-20 – Caesar's German Cavalry | John Jenkins Designs
During the final decades of the Roman Republic, Julius Caesar conducted a series of military campaigns that transformed Roman control of Gaul and brought his armies into direct confrontation with numerous Celtic and Germanic peoples.
Cavalry played a valuable role in these campaigns, particularly for reconnaissance, rapid movement and pursuing enemy forces. Caesar recognised the fighting abilities of Germanic horsemen and made use of their services during his campaigns.
Germanic cavalrymen were valued for their mobility and battlefield experience, providing an important mounted element alongside Roman infantry formations.
Unlike the disciplined ranks of the Roman legions, these mounted warriors brought their own fighting traditions and methods of warfare, reflecting the diverse military forces operating in Caesar's armies.
ROMCAV-20 – Caesar's German Cavalry by John Jenkins Designs represents a Germanic mounted warrior associated with the armies of Julius Caesar.
Part of the Armies and Enemies of Ancient Rome collection, this figure is a distinctive addition to displays depicting the Gallic Wars and the military campaigns of the late Roman Republic.
