The Napoleonic Wars drew troops from across Europe into campaigns fought on behalf of shifting alliances, and the smaller German states contributed substantial numbers of soldiers to the conflict.
ROT-04N – Roth Würzburg Infantry Regiment represents troops from the forces of Würzburg, one of the German states caught up in the political and military changes of the Napoleonic era.
Würzburg provided contingents for French-led forces during the period of the Confederation of the Rhine, and its soldiers served far beyond their own territory.
A regiment such as this offers collectors a welcome alternative to the more familiar French, British and Austrian formations. The different uniforms and state identities bring greater colour and complexity to a Napoleonic display.
