SMASS-04 – Battle of Saratoga 1777, Continental Army, 2nd Massachusetts Regiment – Two Infantry Casualties
The Battles of Saratoga in 1777 marked a crucial turning point in the American Revolutionary War. The eventual American victory over General John Burgoyne's British army helped convince France that the American cause had a genuine prospect of success, contributing to the French decision to enter the war as an American ally.
The 2nd Massachusetts Regiment formed part of the Continental Army involved in the Saratoga campaign. SMASS-04 – Two Infantry Casualties portrays two of its soldiers struck down amid the fighting, providing a much more sombre view of the battle than advancing or firing infantry.
Casualty figures can be particularly effective in a large diorama, breaking up orderly formations and conveying the confusion, danger and human cost of an 18th-century battlefield.
The Military Workshop offers SMASS-04 for collectors looking to add greater realism and storytelling to a John Jenkins Battle of Saratoga 1777 display.
