SMASS12-01 - Infantry Officer, 12th Massachusetts Regiment | John Jenkins Designs

This individual figure represents an infantry officer of the 12th Massachusetts Regiment during the American War of Independence.

The 12th Massachusetts Regiment was raised on 23 April 1775 outside Boston under the command of Colonel Edmund Phinney.

Also known as Phinney's Regiment and associated with the 18th Continental Regiment, the unit became part of the American forces serving against the British during the Revolutionary War.

The regiment participated in several significant engagements, including the Battle of Bunker Hill, the Battle of Valcour Island, the Battles of Saratoga and the Battle of Monmouth.

These campaigns reflected the changing circumstances of the Continental Army as it developed from locally raised colonial formations into a more experienced military force.

Infantry officers were responsible for maintaining discipline, communicating orders and directing their men during both marches and battlefield engagements.

The regiment's brown coats with red facings represented one of the uniform styles worn by Continental soldiers during the period.

SMASS12-01 provides a central command figure for collectors creating a 12th Massachusetts Regiment formation.

The figure complements the additional officer variations, drummer, infantrymen and casualty sets available within the range.
