SNY3-01 - Infantry Officer, 3rd New York Regiment | John Jenkins Designs
This individual figure represents an infantry officer of the 3rd New York Regiment serving with the Continental Army during the American War of Independence.
The regiment was originally authorised on 25 May 1775 and organised from several New York counties under the command of Colonel James Clinton.
Following several reorganisations, the regiment was raised for a third time in December 1776 under the command of Peter Gansevoort.
The regiment participated in military operations during the Revolutionary War and became particularly associated with the defence of Fort Stanwix in the Mohawk Valley.
During the British campaign of 1777, Fort Stanwix was besieged by forces under Barry St. Leger, while American militia attempting to relieve the garrison became involved in the Battle of Oriskany.
The defence of Fort Stanwix contributed to the failure of British operations in the region.
Infantry officers were responsible for maintaining discipline, directing troop movements and ensuring orders were carried out during military engagements.
SNY3-01 provides a command figure for collectors recreating the 3rd New York Regiment during the American Revolution.
It can be displayed alongside the regiment's standard bearers, drummer and infantry figures to create a larger Continental Army formation.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
