SNY3-04 - Two Wounded Infantrymen, 3rd New York Regiment | John Jenkins Designs

This two-figure set represents wounded infantrymen of the 3rd New York Regiment during the American War of Independence.

The figures depict two different casualty poses, with one soldier standing after being wounded and another lying prone.

These contrasting poses provide collectors with an opportunity to represent the consequences of eighteenth-century battlefield fighting.

The 3rd New York Regiment was originally authorised in 1775 under Colonel James Clinton and subsequently reorganised under Peter Gansevoort in December 1776.

During the 1777 campaign, the regiment served in the Mohawk Valley, where Fort Stanwix became an important American defensive position.

The fort was threatened by British forces under Barry St. Leger as part of the wider offensive intended to regain control of important territory in New York.

The events surrounding the siege were closely associated with the Battle of Oriskany, fought on 6 August 1777.

SNY3-04 provides two wounded Continental infantrymen suitable for adding battlefield casualties to a historical display.

The set can be combined with the regiment's standing, firing and advancing infantry to create a more detailed representation of the American forces involved in the Mohawk Valley Campaign.
