SNY3-07 - Two Infantrymen, 3rd New York Regiment | John Jenkins Designs
This two-figure set depicts infantrymen of the 3rd New York Regiment during the American War of Independence.
The figures represent one soldier standing and loading his musket and another kneeling and firing, providing a useful combination of poses for a Continental infantry formation.
The regiment was originally established in 1775 under Colonel James Clinton and subsequently reorganised during the conflict.
In December 1776, Peter Gansevoort assumed command of the newly raised third establishment of the regiment.
During the British offensive through the Mohawk Valley in 1777, the regiment became closely associated with the defence of Fort Stanwix.
The fort was besieged by British forces under Barry St. Leger, while American militia attempting to relieve the garrison became involved in the Battle of Oriskany.
The successful defence of Fort Stanwix contributed to the failure of the British campaign through the Mohawk Valley.
SNY3-07 provides two Continental infantrymen in active loading and firing poses, making the set suitable for representing a defensive position or expanding an existing musket line.
The figures complement SNY3-07N and other 3rd New York Regiment releases within the Drums Along the Mohawk collection.
