SQR-07 - Two Highlanders, Simcoe's Rangers | John Jenkins Designs
This two-figure set represents Highland infantrymen serving with the Queen's Rangers, commonly known as Simcoe's Rangers, during the American War of Independence.
The figures are depicted marching, representing members of the Highland company within this distinctive Loyalist regiment.
The Queen's Rangers were originally established in 1776 and became one of the better-organised provincial formations serving the British Crown.
Major John Graves Simcoe assumed command in October 1777 and introduced improvements in training, discipline and military organisation.
Under his leadership, the Rangers expanded beyond their original infantry establishment to include specialised companies of Highlanders, grenadiers, riflemen and light infantry, as well as mounted troops and artillery.
The regiment was frequently employed in scouting, patrolling, outpost duties and operations requiring rapid movement.
The Highland company formed part of this varied organisation, providing additional infantry capability within the Rangers.
SQR-07 contains two marching Highlanders and is suitable for representing soldiers moving on campaign or assembling as part of a larger unit.
It can be combined with SQR-07N and other Queen's Rangers figures to recreate an extended Loyalist infantry formation.
Now available from The Military Workshop.
