SS197B – SS Soldier Pointing MP40 (Winter Version) | Thomas Gunn

As World War II progressed, German infantry units were frequently required to fight in difficult terrain, including forests, ruined villages and heavily defended towns. Close coordination between individual soldiers became particularly important during patrols, defensive engagements and small-unit movements.

The MP40 submachine gun was a familiar weapon among German troops, offering a compact automatic firearm suited to close-range fighting.

SS197B – SS Soldier Pointing MP40 by Thomas Gunn depicts a Waffen-SS soldier dressed for winter conditions, standing with his MP40 and gesturing towards a position ahead.

His pose captures a moment of battlefield communication, as though directing fellow soldiers towards an approaching threat or indicating the next position to occupy.

The winter uniform makes this figure an excellent addition to German infantry displays set during the colder months of the war, particularly alongside other Thomas Gunn winter soldiers.
