SS199B – SS Soldier Standing Ready with MP40 (Winter Version) | Thomas Gunn
The harsh winters of World War II presented enormous challenges for German soldiers fighting across Europe. Freezing temperatures, snow-covered roads and prolonged exposure to the elements made military operations particularly difficult, especially during the later stages of the conflict.
The MP40 submachine gun became one of the most recognisable German infantry weapons of the war. Commonly issued to officers, NCOs and selected troops, it was particularly useful during close-quarter engagements in villages, buildings and wooded terrain.
SS199B – SS Soldier Standing Ready with MP40 by Thomas Gunn portrays a Waffen-SS soldier wearing winter clothing and standing with his MP40 held downward in a ready position.
His relaxed but watchful stance suggests a moment between engagements, making him suitable for patrol scenes, checkpoints or defensive positions.
This winter version can be displayed alongside other Thomas Gunn German infantry and Fallschirmjäger figures to create a historically inspired World War II diorama.
