SW045 – Ashigaru Arquebusier Advancing & Firing combines movement with gunpowder action, giving the Eastern Army formation a particularly energetic pose.
The widespread Japanese adoption of firearms is one of the most important military developments of the Sengoku period. Daimyo recognised the usefulness of matchlock weapons and incorporated them alongside more traditional bows and polearms rather than treating them as an isolated novelty.
An advancing arquebusier is especially useful when the battle has moved beyond a static firing line. Position SW045 ahead of loading and ready figures and the unit appears to be pushing forward while maintaining pressure on the enemy.
Together with Eastern Army spearmen and archers, he helps create a mixed infantry force for Tokugawa Ieyasu at Sekigahara.
