SX-36A – Fyrdman with Club

Not every warrior summoned to the Anglo-Saxon Fyrd would have carried expensive military equipment. The men who answered the call to arms came from different backgrounds and could bring a variety of weapons into battle.

SX-36A – Fyrdman with Club portrays a Saxon warrior armed with a simple but formidable club. His comparatively basic weapon provides an interesting contrast to the swords, axes and spears carried by many of the better-equipped figures within the Saxon range.

The figure is particularly useful when creating a larger Fyrd formation, where differences in weapons and equipment help convey the varied nature of the men gathered to defend their kingdom.
