SX-52B – Fyrdman

Standing in an early medieval shield wall required discipline and courage. Each warrior depended upon the men beside him, with overlapping shields creating a defensive barrier against enemy weapons and missile fire.

SX-52B – Fyrdman represents one of the ordinary Saxon warriors who provided much of the manpower behind these formations. His presence helps build the mass of troops needed to make a large shield wall visually convincing.
