The shield wall was central to Anglo-Saxon battlefield tactics. Warriors stood closely together, their shields creating a protective barrier while spears and other weapons could be used against enemies attempting to break the formation.

SX-575859B – Saxon Fyrdmen Shield Wall brings together several Fyrdmen designed to form part of this defensive line. Grouped tightly with additional Saxon warriors, the figures help create the appearance of a substantial body of men determined to hold their position.

The set can be combined with the alternative A version and other Fyrd releases to extend the formation across a much larger battlefield.
