SX-62A – Two Wounded Saxons

Battles such as Stamford Bridge and Hastings in 1066 demonstrated the terrible punishment early medieval armies could endure. Even experienced warriors protected by shields and armour remained vulnerable once fighting became prolonged.

SX-62A – Two Wounded Saxons represents two men caught in the turmoil of battle. Their wounded poses create a natural break among the upright figures of the shield wall and help suggest a formation beginning to suffer casualties.

These figures work particularly well when scattered among the different Saxon Fyrdmen and Housecarls, creating a scene that appears to be unfolding rather than simply posed.
