THYORK-04 – Wounded Billmen, Retinue of Sir Thomas Howard of Ashwellthorpe, Earl of Surrey
The bill was one of the characteristic weapons of English infantry during the later Middle Ages. Derived from an agricultural implement, the military bill developed into a formidable polearm capable of cutting, thrusting and pulling an opponent off balance.
THYORK-04 – Wounded Billmen portrays men from the retinue of Sir Thomas Howard, Earl of Surrey, who have become casualties of the fighting.
Rather than depicting the retinue at full strength, the wounded poses help convey the violent reality of hand-to-hand combat and are ideal for positioning around advancing billmen and archers.
Available from The Military Workshop – an atmospheric John Jenkins set that brings another layer of realism to a late-medieval English battle scene.
