Within an 18th-century British infantry regiment, the grenadier company traditionally contained selected soldiers who developed a reputation as some of the regiment’s most formidable troops.
TIC-20 – 42nd Regiment of Foot, Grenadiers, Marching represents grenadiers of the celebrated Black Watch moving in formation. Their distinctive appearance immediately identifies them as a separate element within the wider regiment.
Placed alongside the Black Watch line infantry, the grenadiers allow collectors to create a more complete representation of the 42nd Regiment on campaign, with different companies marching together as part of the same force.
