TMRR-02R – The Roman Army of the Mid-Republic
The Roman Army of the Mid-Republic developed into one of the ancient world’s most adaptable military forces. During roughly the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC, Rome fought a succession of demanding wars that eventually transformed it from an Italian power into the dominant force of the Mediterranean.
TMRR-02R represents soldiers from this important period, when the Roman legion was organised around the manipular system. The famous triplex acies placed the Hastati, Principes and veteran Triarii in successive lines, supported by lighter troops such as the Velites.
The red-shield appearance makes this release particularly effective alongside other similarly equipped Mid-Republican Romans, allowing collectors to gradually assemble a cohesive legion for battle scenes ranging from Rome’s struggles in Italy to the Punic and Macedonian Wars.
