TRW057(P) – Spotted Tail
Spotted Tail, known to his people as Siŋté Glešká, was one of the most influential Native American leaders of the nineteenth century. Born around 1823 in present-day South Dakota, he first gained fame as a warrior, participating in conflicts against rival tribes and the United States Army. Over time, however, Spotted Tail became renowned as a skilled diplomat and statesman, recognising the overwhelming numbers and resources of the expanding United States and seeking a path that would preserve the future of his people.
As chief of the Brulé (Sicangu) Lakota, Spotted Tail played a major role in negotiations with the U.S. government during the turbulent years of the Sioux Wars. He advocated for peace, education and practical adaptation while fiercely defending the rights and welfare of his people. His leadership helped shape the history of the Lakota during one of the most challenging periods in their history, and he remains one of the most respected Indigenous leaders of the American Plains.
The Military Workshop's TRW057(P) – Spotted Tail beautifully portrays this distinguished Lakota chief, capturing the dignity and authority that made him one of the most significant Native American leaders of his generation. Rich in historical character and detail, this figure is ideal for collectors of the American frontier, Native American history and the Indian Wars period.
An exceptional addition to any collection, this model commemorates a remarkable warrior, diplomat and statesman whose legacy continues to be honoured by the Lakota people and students of American history alike.
A Cheyenne "Dog Soldier" well-known for his accuracy with bow and arrow.
